Chelladurai Honored With Sport Management Scholar Lifetime Achievement Award |

TROY, Ala.- Dr. Packianathan Chelladurai received the inaugural Sport Management Scholar Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southern Sport Management Association at its fifth annual conference on April 16th, 2009.
Chelladurai, a professor of sport management at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, accepted the award from Dr. Damon Andrew, dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Troy University, which hosts the SSMA conference.
The award, which was established to recognize individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions to the academic field of sport management, was presented to Chelladurai during a dinner held to conclude the first day of conference activities.
In conjunction with the award, Chelladurai  received
a commemorative Ohio State "Buckeye Dreams" print from renowned sports artist and Alabama native Douglas C. Hess, which was presented in conjunction with the Journal of Sport Administration & Supervision, a conference partner.
An internationally recognized scholar of management science, Chelladurai has authored five books and contributed more than 100 articles to the sport management literature.

Journal Releases Inaugural Issue |

| MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The sport management program at Middle Tennessee State University announced today that it has released the inaugural issue of the Journal of Sport Administration & Supervision (JSAS).
Colby B. Jubenville, co-founder and publisher of the journal, released the inaugural issue in conjunction with the commencement of the Southern Sport Management Conference (SSMC) at Troy University in Troy, Ala.
“JSAS is proud to release its first issue as SSMC starts this week,” Jubenville said.
“Like SSMC, this issue will be a landmark event in turning the attention of the sport management academy toward serving the practitioner population of the sport industry, and we believe that its revolutionary approach to scholarship will continue to attract cutting-edge research that can make a difference in sport institutions everywhere.”

JSAS Partners with SSMA for Annual Conference |
| | TROY, Ala.—Sport management faculty members at Sun Belt Conference institutions Troy University and Middle Tennessee State University today announced a strategic partnership between the Southern Sport Management Association’s (SSMA) annual conference with MTSU’s Journal of Sport Administration and Supervision (JSAS).
Dr. Fred Green, professor and faculty athletics representative at Troy and founder of SSMA, and Dr. Colby B. Jubenville, associate professor of sport management at MTSU and publisher of JSAS, announced the partnership by stating that the purpose behind the partnership was to unite two academic-based entities that shared a common mission of serving practitioners in the field of sport management.

ANN ARBOR, Mich.---The scholarly monograph isn’t going anywhere. But exactly where and how scholarly works appear is undergoing nothing less than a revolution comparable, some say, to the invention of the printing press nearly six centuries ago.
To maintain its leadership role in scholarly publishing in the digital age, the University of Michigan will restructure its largest publishing affiliate, University of Michigan Press. With the changes, the press will shift its focus to the recruitment, production and dissemination of primarily digital monographs.
