JSAS To Be Featured In EBSCO Database PDF Print E-mail

EBSCOMURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The editorial executives of the Journal of Sport Administration & Supervision (JSAS) announced today that the journal would soon be included in the research databases of EBSCO Publishing, Inc.

Available in 90 percent of public, college, and university libraries in more than 70 countries, EBSCO databases will list JSAS alongside approximately 75,000 other titles from more than 5,000 academic journal publishers.

As an active proponent of disseminating research knowledge that is readily and globally accessible to scholars, practitioners, students, media, and the public, JSAS will rely on its association with EBSCO to help meet its stated goal of aggressive indexing for increased accessibility to its authors' manuscripts, said Dr. Colby B. Jubenville, co-founder and publisher of the journal.

"We are honored that a database service like EBSCO, which is globally held in such high regard among libraries and publishers, would agree to a partnership with us," Jubenville said.

"We're even more proud of the fact that this will tremendously increase the size of the audiences for our authors, who have and will continue to do research that matters."

Christine Di Pietro of EBSCO's content licensing department stated that the newly formed association would benefit both researchers and students who will be able to access JSAS content for their research needs, as well as increase the visibility of the journal.

"We believe that JSAS will add to our resources for students and will benefit the journal through the visibility that comes with being included in EBSCO databases," Di Pietro said.

Di Pietro also noted the simplicity of access to JSAS articles that EBSCO could afford.

"Each article in our databases is linked to a publisher information page which provides a description of the publication and a live link to the publisher's website," she said.

JSAS co-founder and editor Dr. Benjamin D. Goss said that the association with EBSCO would compliment the journal's existing efforts to fulfill its commitment to open access to research.

"Though libraries pay a yearly subscription fee for access to the EBSCO databases, they won't incur any additional costs for accessing JSAS but will instead have access to another quality publication among the 75,000 titles which EBSCO boasts in its databases," Goss said.

After an upload process of approximately three months, JSAS content should be available to EBSCO users sometime in late November or early December, Di Pietro said.
