MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—Colby B. Jubenville, publisher and co-founder of the Journal of Sport Administration & Supervision, has announced the journal’s first call for papers. “We are pleased to open the submission process for authors to send their research for consideration and review,” Jubenville said. “This day has been many months in development, but when authors see the outlet we’ve created for their work, we believe they will agree with us when we say that JSAS is an outlet exactly like no other journal.” Jubenville, an associate professor of sport management and graduate program coordinator at Middle Tennessee State University, pointed to several distinct features that combine to uniquely distinguish JSAS, some of which have been added only in recent days.
Phenomenology Development of the Scholarly Sport Practitioner Development of Social Responsibility in Sport Organizations & Stakeholders Open-Access Other unique and distinct features of JSAS include: Reviews by both academicians and practitioners Author copyright ownership Aggressive indexing & media relations Online Journal System Digital Object Identifiers Jubenville said that while none of these ideas or features were new, their combination under one journal roof would become JSAS’s exclusive signature. “We’ve developed the idea for the journal for quite a while, and during that time, we were able to pull some of the best features from several of them and make JSAS a very progressive academic publication outlet,” Jubenville said. When asked about the scope of articles to be published by the journal, Jubenville noted that the founders of JSAS elected to keep its scope fairly broad to allow it to cover essentially all areas of sport management science. “Instead of trying to focus JSAS topically in an attempt to generate the perception of higher research quality, we elected to establish our journal’s quality through high-quality peer reviewing from a high-quality editorial board,” Jubenville said. According to Jubenville, JSAS welcomes for review papers that examine topics that primarily center upon some aspect of the administration and supervision of amateur, elite, semiprofessional, and professional sports, including (but not limited to) administration/organizational behavior, marketing, law, economics/finance, history, sociology, ethics, coaching, institutional interaction, secondary (high school) interaction, professional sport interaction, intra-departmental interaction, and media. Jubenville noted that manuscripts focusing upon process improvement would be considered particularly important to the journal’s mission.
