While the concept of open access journals will doubtlessly (and probably swiftly) change the future of academic publishing, thereby giving boundless content access to untold millions of people around the world, the likelihood of the general population to naturally gravitate toward journal articles and the knowledge they contain is remote at best, at least in the foreseeable future. Therefore, JSAS realizes that it must undertake other initiatives that create public awareness of the issues explored and the relevance thereof.
To further such awareness, JSAS will create an effective system of public and media relations, utilizing contacts of its academic and practitioner review board members to reach influential creators of public perception and popular agendas with the relevance and impact of JSAS’s research. This will include maintaining specific sections of JSAS’s website, creating press releases, and establishing contact with influential policymakers.
